Basically any hardware wallet has, after being initiated, in some way, shape or form the private key/s stored.
Therefore hardware wallets act merely as a tool to access your funds; the “cryptocurrencies” are on their representitative Blockchain, while the hardware wallet is essentially nothing else than the access itself to the associated public address/es.

Not all hardware wallets do the same approach, i.e. & more specific:
