CryptoPunks are one of the most famous NFT collections out there. Based on the Ethereum blockchain, CryptoPunks is a collection of 10,000 algorithmically generated 24×24 pixel portraits launched by Larva Labs back in 2017. #1 CryptoPunk #5822

The most expensive CryptoPunk happens to be a super rare Alien Punk. There are only 9 Alien Punks out there, which gives you an idea of how rare this Punk is. Plus, #5822 also wears a bandana, adding more to its uniqueness. Punk #5822 is more than twice as expensive as the second most expensive CryptoPunk.
#2 CryptoPunk #4156

Yup, the two most expensive Punks in the world wear the same blue bandana. #4156 is a rare Ape punk (one of 24). Previously, Punk #4156 was sold for 650 ETH; this is less than a third of its current price.

Coming up on number 3 is another Ape punk. While the previous two wore blue bandanas, this one is wearing a cowboy hat. The hat is a rare trait since only 142 Punks have it – a little less than 1.5% of the total collection.

- Pipe: ~3.2% of the Punks have this trait.
- Small Shades: ~3.8% of the Punks have this trait.
So, not only does Punk #7804 have three rare traits, but they go very well with each other, which helps in propping up its overall value. Punk #7804 has been put up for sale for 8,889 ETH.

As you can see, people are willing to spend millions of dollars on CryptoPunks, making them one of the hottest NFT collections out there. Of the top 5, three are Alien punks, while the other two are Ape punks. Interestingly, of the top 5, four Punks have only one trait each. People seem to value the rarity of the Punk type more than the traits themselves.
