Web3js not working

I am on lesson 2 of ETH102 (https://courses.blockgeeks.com/lesson/decentralized-storage-2/) and cant seem to make the html page work. I properly include web3js in my html along with the custom script code. However I am getting these errors when the index.html loads:
1.ReferenceError: require is not definedweb3.min.js:1:636

2.TypeError: e is not a function
