As as part of Blockgeeks’ commitment to a decentralized future and in tandem with its goal to further improve the accessibility of blockchain education, Blockgeeks has donated free access to its entire online course library to the Chintsa East Community Learning Centre in South Africa.

The Centre provides free access to books, the internet, and  communication  technology to approximately 5,000 socially and economically disadvantaged children, youth and adults.  It also offers a variety of training and education to community members, including  digital  literacy courses, math support,  smartphone business training, and aid with employment searches and applications.

The Centre is made up of two containers with paving in between, and fencing all around. It currently houses 10 computers, which will each have full and unrestricted access to the Blockgeeks course library.

Through Blockgeeks, students will be able to learn how to build their own decentralized apps and private blockchains. “We’re excited to add blockchain training to the amazing services already offered at the learning center,” says Ameer Rosic, CEO of Blockgeeks. “The blockchain industry is growing rapidly, but there is a deficit in blockchain developers–those willing to learn how to code open up a world of opportunity for themselves”.

The Chintsa East Community Learning Centre is a joint initiative between African Angels, Friends of Chintsa,
local community organizers, and Great Kei Municipality.  The African Angels are dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty in South Africa through quality education.
